Finding Joy in Gratitude: A Thanksgiving Reflection

I can say without hesitation that 2024 has been one of the most trying years of my adult life. Yet, through it all, Psalm 27:13 has been the anchor of my heart: “I would have lost heart, unless I had believed that I would see the goodness of the LORD in the land of the living.”

Because of God’s unfailing grace and mercy, I endured what seemed inevitable. He held me securely in the hollow of His hand, and for that, I am deeply grateful. I thank God for covering my family, providing for us, and allowing me to be a vessel in ministry to His people.

After all I’ve been through, I can boldly declare: I still have joy!

Three Ways to Display Gratitude This Season:

  1. Express It Out Loud
Take time to share your gratitude with others. Whether it’s a heartfelt conversation, a simple thank-you note, or a public testimony, let those around you know how much you appreciate them and how God has been good to you. Gratitude multiplies when it’s shared!
  2. Serve Others Generously
One of the best ways to show gratitude is to give back. Volunteer your time, share a meal, or meet a need in someone’s life. Acts of kindness not only bless others but also reflect the abundance of God’s provision in your own life.
  3. Focus on the Present Blessings
Gratitude grows when we shift our focus from what’s missing to what we already have. Take time to reflect on the little things—health, family, shelter, or even a moment of peace—and thank God for His faithfulness in every detail of your life.

This Thanksgiving, let’s celebrate not only what we’ve endured but also the joy and blessings we still hold. Happy Thanksgiving!
